Cross-Selling Enhancement

New Veracart Cross-Selling Enhancement

Previous to this new feature, Veracart was limited in how quickly you can add a cross-selling item to a large number of products at once.

Say you have a Product that you want to have cross-sold across many different Products. This new feature gives you the ability to select a Product, then select which Product(s) you want it to be cross-sold with.

Instead of a "many-to-one" approach as we have currently available on the Item Editor page, we are enabling you to use a "one-to-many" approach by attaching the Product directly to any number of Products, all at once.

This will help you save time when attaching a particular product to be sold with many products in your store.

To use go to Products > List Items(Items/Packages) > Click on the Blue + next to any product you want to add as a cross selling item to many products.

Once you click the blue "+" icon, a box will pop-over the screen. Use the categories on the left to select the products you want the item to be cross-sold with.

"The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a set of requirements designed to ensure that ALL companies that process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment. Essentially any merchant that has a Merchant ID (MID).

So in laymans terms, Veracart transmits your clients address, credit card, and other data, securely ensuring our part in fraud reduction is covered.

How do you implement other security measures? Depending on your gateway and merchant accounts, you can set these up to detect fraud.

It also helps to have a discerning eye for a fraudulent scheme. If you receive international orders for a larger than normal volume of merchandise, Veracart urges you to make certain that you receive payment in full, as well as check with the credit card owner to make sure the credit card is valid and that the card owner purchased the merchandise.

Some banks such as Wells Fargo have implemented mandatory rules that require any fraudulent claim submitted to them, the orders must have the same billing and shipping addresses as indicated on the purchasers credit card. This can cut down on fraud significantly.

It's that time of year again. Ninety-six million users are expected to go shopping online today. Cyber Monday, the equivelant of Black Friday for online stores is due to the millions of people coming back from thanksgiving vacation, and shopping online at the office.

Last year Cyber Monday pulled in about $846 million, making it the 3rd largest shopping day of the Christmas season. However, Black Friday e-commerce sales jumped 11 percent over last year to $595 million. This is a trend we are very excited about!

Commission Junction Advanced Integration Live

For anyone that uses Commission Junction as their affiliate network partner you can now use Commission Junction's Advanced Integration. You will just need to know your Enterprise ID and Action ID. To configure Commission Junction login to the control panel:

Then go to Marketing -> Affiliate Programs -> Check Commission Junction then press save. Once you have saved go to the Configure link next to Commission Junction, and put in your Commission Junction Enterprise ID and Action ID. You are now live with Commission Junction.

Min Order Qty and Amount Added, Item Importer Updated

We received a number of requests lately for minimum quantity and minimum dollar amount per order so we added this feature for all of you requesting it. I hope you enjoy it. If there are any problems let us know. To use this feature to go Settings -> Inventory Settings (which is a link under Store Info Settings). On the bottom of this page are three new settings I will attempt to explain them below:

1.) Minimum Quantity Per Order this forces the cart to make sure they have at least a quantity of 12 of any item in the customers cart.

2.) On the Item Edit (Product -> List Items ->Edit an Item) page theirs a new box under the Special Pricing Settings section this will allow you to input the minimum quantity that a customer has to purchase to order the item.

This feature will force the minimum quantity for the item to appear in the item quantity add to cart section of your catalog pages.

3.) On the Inventory Settings page you can input the minimum order amount for a particular purchase.

Item Importer Updated:

Veracart also updated the Item Importer to include uploading minimum quantity, volume discounting, SEO title tag, SEO meta keywords, SEO meta description. The format for adding a new volume discounting feature is qty_from| qty_to | discount | type, so for example
0| 100 | 0.50 | 1 this means that a Quantity of 0 to 100 gets a flat rate discount of 50 cents. The type is 1 for flat rate 2 for percentage. The | or called pipe in the programming world is just above the enter key on your keyboard.

New Feature - Duplicate Item!

Duplicate Item* - This feature allows you to clone or duplicate the item from another similar item. This helps you easily create new items with the same or similar data such as Price, Category, Attributes, etc...

There are two ways to duplicate an item.

1) In the mass item editor (Products --> List Items) you can click on this icon next to the item to duplicate it.

2) At the top of the item editor there is a new feature for creating a new item.

To use this, first select the category where the item is that you want to duplicate. Then select the item. Finally click on 'Duplicate This Item'.

*This new feature is limited to the product data only and does not clone the original image with it.

The Veracart team hopes everyone had a wonderful holiday season and are now able to breath a little sigh of relief that the busy month of December is over. The Veracart team will be posting to this blog often to let you know of all the Veracart updates we make, and the many things going on in the office. Several items of business:

1.) We would like to welcome the newest member of our support team: Kurtis. What can we say about Kurtis. Kurtis is a bright young man who is a super fixer upper and problem solver. He has a loving and kind heart. I am sure you will be able to get to know him better as time goes on. Matt just said he's happy happy happy about this extra help! We hope that you find Matt and Kurtis useful as well. Kurtis will be manning the Click to Chat support line.

2.) We have continued to make small changes to Veracart and will be placing them in the 3.5.2 release. We will also be coming out with major changes in a future new release. These major changes will be announced soon.

3.) We are looking for beta testers for our Quickbooks integration. Please email support@veracart.com if you are interested.

4.) New features added in the last two days

We have added a replacement variable that can be used in the templates [INVENTORY]. The inventory replacement variable returns the total inventory left for an item. Meaning all of the inventory for all of the attributes are summed and a number is returned.
We created a feature to replicate existing items. Meaning you can now copy existing items from List Items or Create New Items with out having to enter all of the data over again. (This feature will be released later today)
We added the ability to Copy Content from Word into your item description and summary.

This is just in the last couple of days we will keep you updated more often so you know how often we update Veracart and what is being updated. The Veracart team will also be updating the Marketing blog 4 times a month. We will keep you posted.

Iprovo, our ISP is upgrading the power "grid" in their operations center. All services will be down while they install a redundant power system so no more failures like last weeks power outage that caused all servers/services to be down for nearly 6 hours.

In an effort to better serve you Veracart will be switching its data center on June 14th, from 2:00 AM EST to 4:00 AM EST. We do expect to have down time during this time and would encourage you NOT to advertise during these hours on June 14th. Veracart is switching data centers to accommodate its growing need for more bandwidth, and an increase in rack space for our growing need for more servers.

It is probably best to subscribe to this page using a RSS reader to keep up to date with system statuses. You could also bookmark the page, but using RSS gives you a lot more power to keep track of things, and maybe even have your reader notify you via email or a popup in your computer's system tray (depending on the reader you are using). Using RSS is very cool and hard to avoid on the web these days--ultimately it could make your life a lot easier.

Basic idea. Instead of running all over the web for news, updates, etc... you can have the web come to you. It's sort of your own personal news service. Let's say, you like to read the New York Times, business section, and you also like to read about high performance car articles from Car and Driver Magazine. Addtionally, you like to read a few blogs out there that you are a fan of. So, you just go to your RSS reader, and then you would see all updates from all of those diffrent sites, all on your single page--you see, it's your own portal to the web.

As you can see, it's very time sensitive, or time oriented information that RSS really is used for the most. But even sites like Ebay and Amazon often let you subscribe to RSS feeds to watch certain products and product updates.

But how do you setup an RSS reader, or should I say subscribe to an RSS feed ? It's easy even for most people that are afraid of the internet and other crazy technologies.

If you use Internet Explorer (the blue "E") to get online and browse the internet, then you can read it here on Microsofts website: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/ie7/tour/rss/
In short, any site you are visiting, you should see a little orange symbol in your browsers toolbar somewhere.

If you use Firefox, then try this to get started (they call theirs "Live Bookmarks"):

Most email clients/programs like Outlook (2007), Eudora, and Thunderbird have readers built into them (use their documentation to learn how).

If you use Google Desktop, there is one there that even notifies you, or even your Google/MSN/Yahoo homepage can all be customized to show RSS feeds for other sites.

There are also plenty of other free (and commercial) programs out there--they are getting hard to avoid these days. You can do a google search, or a search on Download.com for "RSS reader" or "RSS aggregator" or "news aggregator." But I would really count on most of the ones I mentinoed previously, especially the ones that can auto-notify you.
